not sure about the rest of you that are mentally out, but every now and again i still have those moments where i think "ok god, if this is in fact the true religion and the organization is right and i'm on the wrong path, send me a big, glaringly obvious sign that i can't ignore.. .

Personally I'm more interested in signs from Satan and the demons than signs from God. I always heard that as soon as you started becoming weak in the JW faith the devil would pounce on you like a roaring lion.

I was told the primary way he did this was by throwing temptation at me, the most common being loose women. Here I am a few years into my fade, with almost dead faith, and I'm not so lucky. Stan (that's my nickname for Satan now) hasn't thrown me one bone (giggity). Much less the 25 top model quality women that I openly agreed to selling my soul for if they would suddenly appear with immediate lust for me within a short time frame. And you know what ... I got nuthin.

In all seriousness, I'm working more than ever but actually enjoying not trying to fit in all the BS obligations that JW activity required for salvation and paradise that never comes. I've ran into so many JWs, at grocery stores, post offices, and everywhere between - one even tried to tell me it was a sign. I was like "how often do you come here" - He answered, ''once a week''. I replied ''I'm here at least two or three times a week, if this is a sign, then wow, someone with all power isn't really trying hard.''

Cofty is right - it's human nature to see patterns in what are otherwise natural coincidences at best. When you were ever on vacation for the first time in a new city, did you drive by a kingdom hall and notice it? How many other churches though did you drive by and notice that you still remember? Probably way more than kingdom Halls, but you never noticed them and certainly didn't remember them, because you didn't attach any meaning to them. It's simply what I call selective awareness.

You'll have it for a while - it won't ever be a sign. Eventually, you won't even notice it.

Now when I see those 25 top models that randomly appear out of nowhere looking for suntan lotion guy, the first thing I'm going to say when that happens is - "you're in luck - there's a town about 5 miles that way, I'm sure you'll find some guys there." Then I'll think to myself, "man - some day I'll get my break, I just gotta keep my eyes open."

The really really sad thing to me, is that several rational thinking posters actually try to engage with 'it'. Seriously, whether it be the OP troll poster or any babbling voice-hearing attention whores, I just don't get it.

I suppose if you're really bored, or relatively new here, like when I first came on board, there was the whole circus effect going on. "Wow - look at all the clowns" and you want to interact with them for a bit. But after a while the gag wears off and it stops becoming funny. It's actually scary - not that these types of loonies are out there - we know the type and they're on every forum on the internet. What's scary is that seemingly wise and reasonable posters give them the time of day. Even if there was a way to penetrate these deluded minds, why bother? It's like a very wise friend of mine once said: 'For every one reality denialist who comes around to a distilled and palatable version of the truth, twenty more verbal prestidigitators pop up like crazed prairie dogs to fill the emoting vacuum left behind by the convert’s exit.' And the sad thing is, many of these folks are not even that great with words to begin with, in many cases it's complete gibberish without the alcohol. Those that think they are gifted with their own speech (i.e. like to really hear themselves talk), go on to write an endless barrage of posts where every word is more useless than the previous one.

Engaging them in dialogue potentially confuses JW lukers who might be here looking for hope that everyone that left the org didn't go crazy. It also gives these a measure of legitimacy and respect which they have not earned by any of their content.

For me, taking a peak here now and then, I'm a little sad because it's like I'm watching some normally smart folks make an attempt at reasoning with a psychopath. You’re wasting your time and giving them more chances to make headlines so they can have the attention and pseudo-sympathy from onlookers. The way to handle psychopaths is to isolate and ostracize them, not try to engage them.

Everytime N Drew or some other 'world-in-their-own-twisted-mind' Jesus nutjob posts anything ... the only acceptable response is ignore and move on, or this:

Did you receive this "certified" or just regular mail? i.e. did you sign anything for it?

If you did not sign anything - they technically have no proof of contacting you.

One option then is to ignore, ignore, hide, and delay, until it goes away.

Assuming you don't go to meetings, do not answer their calls (even better - get a phone that blocks ph #s that u tell it to). Do not sign for any correspondence via mail or commercial carrier that comes from them or an "unknown/unmarked sender".

As for avoiding them in person, you might have to be a bit more pre-cautious than ususal. Can they freely approach your home anytime? Is there a way to prevent that?

Anyway - a lot depends on your situation, but if you've faded and aren't around JWs anymore, it can be a way to turn the tables on them. I think there was one poster that successfully filed a restraining order on the elders ... and I don't believe they ever proceeded with the JC after.

2012 Yearbook

by this point in the year the yearbook has usually been seen by someone and the partakers figure is known.

You know those scenes from 1984, where the announcer with a woman's voice from the tele-screen talks about how they had an increase in available razorblades when actually there's been a prolonged shortfall, and all the other spin that was changing negative events to make them look favorable... when I read force myself to skim through the yearbook I feel like I'm right there hearing that voice.

Oh and BTW - whats up everyone. That's a statement, not a question.

In the US, I think the growth came from two specific Mexican immigrant families. I'm pretty sure between the two extended familes, there were several thousand that started turning in time this past year. A few stragglers, but 90% of the two families (which btw started studying less than 12 months ago) are turning in a few hours for at least dropping some tracts off at the local taqueria. Unfortunately, due to the illegal immigrant status of many of the men, few will qualify to be a servant or elder. So more gringo elders from the english congregations will have to move to these flourishing rios de la vida. Then we can expect to see even more articles about how there just aren't enough brothers reaching out.

Oh well - kidding aside, all I know is this was the first service year I wasn't included in those numbers at all - that's all I care about.
